The building is organized around a central circulation core, focusing on a glazed radio control room projecting from the street façade and extending through the building with a two-story skylight atrium and stair. Set back from the street, the new fire station is sited to improve apparatus circulation, and at the same time provides a setting for community interaction and activity. The rich, highly visible character of the fire station represents a strong statement of civic pride and commitment to the community.
