During the annual closing of the museum for the months of January and February 2018, the Copeland Lecture Hall went under renovations to revitalize its purpose in serving the Winterthur membership and staff. While renovations included sprucing-up new finishes such as paint and carpet, the most significant upgrade was in new theater seating throughout the space. ABHA Architects worked with the London-based office of Steensen Varming for upgrading the theater lighting to support the theater functions as well as overall improvements to ambient lighting.
