Appoquinimink School District | Middletown, DE | Suburban Site / 142 Acres, Pre-K through 12th Grade |
This project encompassed masterplanning a new K-12 site for phasing and growth. The campus aesthetic was established through an architectural "kit of parts" for major components of the master plan. Key planning elements include site circulation, separation of student, parent drop-off and bus traffic, shared use of building and site amenities, integration of educational spaces in the landscape and buffering of residential areas. The Kindergarten Center, Elementary, Middle and High schools hug a curved circulation spine, creating a shared central green space for outdoor learning. Similar to what was done at the Appoquinimink School District Fairview site, this masterplan strives to make the campus a place rather than a collection of buildings. It is a blueprint for the Appoquinimink School District’s vision of the future.
