The Pilot School is a unique school rooted in the philosophy that each student needs individualized support to develop their personal strengths and skills. The K through 8 program emphasizes a unique blend of academics, occupational and physical therapy and counseling to develop the student holistically through diagnostic teaching. Pilot teachers are able to constantly evaluate every student's changing skills and tailor the approach to best meet each child's learning needs.
The design of the new Pilot School integrates the hands-on learning philosophy of the program with the inherent educational features of its natural rural site. It is the Pilot School's intent to use their environment as a foundation for the learning experience. The site master plan for the school integrates the building into the landscape. Sustainable design features, such as green roofs and solar panels, and principles of good stewardship will guide the daily academic experience of the Pilot student.
